OUR HISTORY

Giovanni Mazzarino was not yet 10 years old when he joined as an apprentice in a craftsman shoe shop in order to be able to contribute to the survival of the family affected by the plight of the postwar which invaded Europe at the time.

That is when he learned the entire process of designing and manufacturing shoes. Times in which machinery or industrial processes were unheard of. Everything was pure craftsmanship and hard work by hand. Soon, his futuristic visions makes him propose new methods and designs for the company who had seen him grow from a mere apprentice into a professional.


However, due to the shortage suffered in the South of Italy, it leads him to seek new horizons and at the age of 27, he emigrates to Germany, joining a large international footwear company that produced prestigious brands such as Dr. Marten’s, reaching a position of maximum responsibility.


In addition to being responsible for the whole production plant, Giovanni Mazzarino, always sensitive with an innovative vision, gives advise to the design department, becoming a successful counselor in the development of new products and collections.

Susana Mazzarino in this sense inherited her father’s passion for footwear, becoming a talented entrepreneur and decides to fulfill her dream, creating a high quality brand, merging art and craft skills with the Italian and German technology and Spanish elegance, wisely transmitted by her mother Pilar.


This is how Susana decides in 1989, influenced by her great-aunt Maria Teresa Jiménez de Blas recognized painter of her time, to begin her studies of Fine Arts in Madrid, specializing in Sculpture and Industrial design, following the same path as her artistic idol “Roger Vivier” who prior to designing shoes, studied Fine Arts in Paris, becoming the first shoe designer to sign along with Dior.

Once having obtained her degree, and after a prolonged artistic career, she decides to create her own children’s fashion company, in order to realize her imaginary world giving room to innovative collections distinguished by its high quality and design.

This is how the LEA LELO brand was born in 2004, receiving a high acceptance in France, Italy, Portugal and Greece. Today being exported to over 20 countries.

Five years later, after the international success, it gives way to marketing in Spain to study carefully the market needs


In 2010 and in view of the results, the Mazzarino family decides to begin a moderate expansion, occupying immediately a highlighted area in the international market for her distinguished designs and high quality, with its unique style shaped by her Mediterranean roots, defining Lea Lelo as a land of inspiration, creativity and excitement where children plant a tree creating a dream to be fulfilled.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

 

LEA LELO is a children’s shoe brand, which since its beginnings has always inspired from children’s fantasy, creating its own imaginary world.

In this sense logo and LEA LELO brand concept was created, that represents two lions; Lea, the lioness and Lelo the lion. The two main characters have many friends, all of them animals to promote children’s love for nature and animal world.

Each character has its own character with strengths and weaknesses. His shoes are magical and enhance their strengths. The aim of the group and its leaders (Lea & Lelo) is “save the planet”. Whenever there is any being in trouble, they go out in his search to rescue him, whether is an animal, plant or a child...

With this love and commitment to nature “Susana Mazzarino”, the Lea Lelo designer, creates each of her models, incorporating “educational” messages remembering to think about saving the planet and its resources.

LEA LELO as a brand, represents first of all power of imagination, creativity, fun and fantasy that are the essential powers of each child to begin their journey through life in a creative and aware way.

For this, LEA LELO creates its imaginary world with a great visual impact in its collections, promotional material and merchandising products to retail outlets.

Lea Lelo’s characters speak all languages and can travel through time and space, like their shoes that are now sold in over 20 countries.
